The purpose of a slim double glazed unit is to sit behind the rebate of your window frame, so you can’t see the spacer bar. This gives the aesthetic appearance of a single pane of glass. Typically used to replace 4mm glass in an existing timber sliding sash or casement window, we can manufacture units as thin as 10mm. If you want to incorporate low-emissivity glass (known as soft coat) to provide an additional thermal enhancement layer, our units start at 11mm.

We use a combination of different spacer bar sizes to achieve various unit thicknesses and sight lines.

All our units are gas-filled using either Argon or Krypton. Industry standards for windows and double glazing are constantly being reviewed and improved. Adding an inert gas molecule gives a better U-value and centre pane window energy rating.

Choose between Edgetech’s black or white Heritage Super Spacer. The bar width is 3mm which allows for the narrow sight lines. With 4mm, 6mm and 8mm thicknesses as well, it means we can produce 11mm, 12mm, 14mm and 16mm units[RS1] . The application is manual and carried out by our trained experts.
